Castillo de Canena has an olive-growing history dating back to 1780. The Vañó family tended their olive trees of the picual, arbequina, and royal varieties and now personally oversee every step in production and distribution. The estate comprises 1,500 hectares with 285,000 trees and a modern oil mill. Castillo de Canena enjoys international fame, consistently receiving the highest international awards.
Castillo de Canena takes its name from the family castle high on a hill overlooking Canena (Jaén) Andalucía. The company prides itself on scrupulous respect for the environment, resulting in a commitment to sustainable development. This includes solar energy, green cover throughout the cultivation area to reduce erosion, conserve indigenous vegetation, and residues from pruning to generate non-polluting biomass energy.
